Having excessive battery drain over night. Noticed it over the last week but wasn't too sure. As I try not to pay close to attention to the battery. But Lost over 50% over the night.. Brand new computer, less than 2 weeks old. Did not restore from time machine. Other than turning bluetooth off.. What fixes have you guys used? Tomorrow will make day 14.. Debating on exchanging..

Nothing is showing in activity monitor that prevents it from sleeping.

Just providing an update to anywho who finds this on Google.. I didn’t solve the problem. I was in my 14 day return period and exchanged it. 2 days so far and this one isn’t experiencing the issue. I do believe it was a software bug, but didn’t feel like figuring out the problem

I have to tell you that neither of my MBPs have this issue either. If I leave all my stuff open and just close the lid and let it sleep overnight, which is what I usually do, I typically lose between 2-3% overnight. This is even better than my iPad somehow!

my Pro 14's battery has gone to heck too. not sure why exactly. I have been using a USB based SDR (software defined radio) on occasion, that could be one culprit. but even when it's disconnected, the battery estimates are 2 hours of battery left with 50% battery. not good. maybe a recent MS Edge browser update has broken it. :/

Did you ever contact Apple support? I mean, there is a 90 day period included with all new purchases. They could have given you a good service to diagnose the issue.

I’ve had this issue on my iPhone and iPad Pro as well - I feel it has something to do with the latest “security breach update”

I could’ve done that…. But why? I was in and out in less than 10 minutes.

There are multiple different reasons that cause the Mac battery to drain fast. However, to fix the problem, you can try the below fixes:

1. Restart your Mac
2. Install the latest macOS updates
3. Check battery usage in System Preferences
4. Reset PRAM/NVRAM and SMC
5. Turn off Power Nap

Hope this will help!!

To each their own I guess. I would have taken the service support to fix it.
I was already updated.. did the PRAM/SMC. I didn’t restore from Time Machine. Uninstalled majority of apps and services that I use.. wasted a week trying to figure out what it could be. They probably would have told me to wipe my computer and do a full fresh install..At that point, I might as well get a new machine from the store if I have to set everything back up.. plus it reset my 14 day return period just in case it was an ongoing issue.
