So I have Messages set up on my Mac and iPhone 7. This started happening with iOS 10. If I get Messages (texts) and answer them on my Macbook, and then later pick up my phone, I will get a notification banner on the phone for every message that I received (and responded to) on my Mac. As soon as I pick up my phone and wake it, the notification banners start going crazy on the top of the phone. Even though these are for old messages already responded to on my Mac. SUPER annoying. Anyone have any idea?

Try disabling iMessage on both devices and then re-enable it
OK thanks. Done. I'll come back and note if it worked. Thanks for your help. This is really making me crazy. o_O

So that didn't help. It happens the opposite way also. If I answer texts on my phone, when I get on my Mac I get notifications for them.

Check all your devices are set to use the same phone number and email address in Messages settings, and that all devices are set to "start new conversations as" your phone number. Try toggling Read Receipts off and back on on both devices at the same time (ie both to off, then toggle back on). Did you logout of iMessage so both devices were logged out together?

This is still happening for me and it is driving me crazy. I decided to ask a friend and test on their iP7. It happens on their phone also. So it must be happening for other people?

Scenario:

I'm on my MacBook Pro. My iPhone sitting next to me toggled to asleep. I get an iMessage and I read and reply to it on my MBP. Later on I pick up my phone and wake it and I get an alert (set to Banner style) that drops down from the top alerting me to this iMessage that I got 20 minutes ago and already read on my MBP. If I get 20 iMessages and answer them all on my MBP, I will get 20 banner dropdowns on my phone.

This couldn't be the way it's supposed to happen. And now I know it isn't just me. Is it everyone? This is so annoying. Especially because if I do get 20 iMessages and then pickup my phone, I have to wait through these 20 banners to drop down and then disappear. They go pretty fast, but never the less really annoying.
