Exchange accounts in El Cap

Well-documented that it's not possible to set up new exchange accounts in El Capitan; and Mail doesn't work with exchange accounts either. This is too big a bug for Apple not to have fixed by GM, right? Right?

There's no workaround yet as far as I can see - posting here in the hope that there is one that I might have missed?

For Exchange 2010 services, Mail / Calendar don't work. I've tried a lot of workarounds, no luck. Pretty sure it has to do with authentication services via the OS.

Exchange 2007 working for me ... Mail is the only way to connect to work as Outlook 2011 is completely ***** since early beta.

Exchange not working for me and outlook 2011 crashes several times a day.

On the other hand my exchange account works with iPhone and iPad fine - same exchange server - both on IOS9 - all good

Different protocols. Mail on OS X uses EWS, while the iPhone uses ActiveSync to connect to Exchange.

How did you get it to work? My Exchange accounts wont auto-discover properly, and El Cap has removed the "sever settings" tab in calendar preferences->accounts, for example (used to be in between "account information" and "delegation"), so I can't edit settings manually as I could in Yosemite to work around auto-discover.

Exchange will work on the first 10.11 machine it is installed on. It is on the subsequent machines that the account information is not imported on.

Mail works fine with my Exchange account.

On multiple 10.11 machines? That's the problem I and others are facing. My work MBA works fine as it's the first machine i set up my account on; my two other MacBooks refuse to connect.

No, just one machine, but I can't really imagine that making a difference? Unless iCloud sync of the accounts breaks things, maybe?

Apparently iCloud sync does break it, because subsequent computers don't work properly.

I honestly don't know. I don't know if it's something to do with my Exchange server as my experiences with Outlook 2011 under El Cap appears to be different to others reports. It beach-balls every time I launch after 5 seconds...

When I was looking around about 2 weeks ago I realised I had my Exchange account under 'Internet Accounts' in 'System Preferences'. I must have added this previously, or it's sync'd from a mobile device. Turned it on and it's been rock solid since then and both Mail and Calendar syncs fine.

I do know that my company supports auto-discovery, that I didn't manually enter the settings, and that it appears to be working properly.

I know none of this helps... sorry!

Yes, it does - the bug for most people seems to be in second and subsequent creations of accounts, not the first, which works (my experience too).

Another year, another OS X with a broken mail program. Nice work again apple. I think they must just give up and say f it in the meetings regarding mail.

Seriously, since snow leopard mail has sucked. I guess they think everyone uses Facebook instead of using email.

Really pisses me off to have to use a third party software like postbox or airmail to do business.

It's not just mail - I can't set up an exchange account in calendar, contacts, notes etc.

Doesn't seem to have been fixed in DP8 either.
