I have used a POP3 account for emails for some 12 years for my business but have finally now changed to an Exchange server, and am using Office 365 and Mac Mail so all my emails sync across all my devices.

I keep all my emails neatly filed: therefore all my sent items are stored in a folder by year (Sent Items 2014, 2013, 2012 etc) and similarly with my old inboxes on a year by year basis. I do the same for old work projects. Although I have some 30GB of old emails, I wish to have them on the server as I need to refer back to them from time to time, and I split my work between work and home so having them on the server makes most sense.

I have been migrating the emails in Mac Mail by simply dragging the folder from 'On My Mac' to 'Exchange' where the new folder site.

The problem is this: any sent emails that sit in my 'sent' folder on exchange have the date correct, but any that sit within any other folders (for example Sent Items 2014), have the date stamp changed to the date that I migrated the email. Most odd. I have tried taking an email sent say 5 years ago, putting it in 'Sent' and the date is 2010. When I drag it into 'Sent Items 2010', the date changes to this week, i.e. the date of migration. What is further strange is that this applies to all of my sent emails, but almost all of my incoming emails have the correct date.

Has anyone heard of this or got a solution?

I desperately want to avoid resorting to using Outlook

Many thanks
