I noticed I had a number of extra folders in my Outlook that cluttered up my iPhone folder list. So, in Outlook I deleted the extra, unused folders (personal folders).

The folders showed up in my Deleted Items in Outlook and were listed as subfolders in the Trash on the iPhone. I emptied the Deleted Items in Outlook, but those deleted folders remain in the Trash on the iPhone.

I've confirmed that the trash in the iPhone is empty, but the folders are still listed under the Trash folder in the folder list.

Any ideas other than reinstalling the Exchange account?

Your not alone in this one mate... I too have folders under my trash that I deleted from outlook, and yet they stay on the iPhone!

Pulling my hair out here!

I eventually had to delete the Exchange account and recreate it.

I hope these kinds of things get fixed soon. There are a number of this "hiccups" dealing with Exchange and MobileMe.
