I am trying to set up my work email on an exchange server to sync with my iPhone but I don't think my device is set up correctly. When I was in the office it was pushing emails to my device instantaneously (faster than it came with the blackberry BIS even). However once I turned my computer off none of my work emails were being forwarded anymore. This morning, I opened Entourage (Outlook for the Mac) on my laptop and immediately, I got all the emails that hadn't come through since yesterday.

I'm not sure why Entourage needs to be open but for some reason the device is only receiving emails in real time when Entourage syncs the emails on my Mac. Any ideas?

Did you setup the server name correctly? OWA.XXXX.COM

I get my emails within seconds of it hitting the exchange server.

It seems that you have redirection of some sort set up for your mail to go to the handheld.

I know with Blackberry Redirection, you have to have Outlook open all the time in order for the mail to go to the handheld. This might be the same case for the way your mail is set up.

What version of Exchange Server are you using?

Exchange 2003. Also if I didn't have the name set up correctly than I wouldn't receive the messages at all. And I do receive them instantly as long as entourage is open. It's very weird.

Sounds like something is not configured properly on the exchange server. The setup for the iphone is simple. Do you know if other iphone users in your org are experiencing the same problems?

Try doing a manual pull of emails.. click on inbox on iPhone and let it update..
maybe entourage triggers the exchange server and it also syncs the iphone at the same time...

Sounds like an issue with the ActiveSync configuration on the Exchange Server - do you have access to the Exchange Configuration or was it set up by someone else?

It was set up by someone else. I am still having this issue and it makes no sense. Nobody else seems to have a similar issue anywhere. Also, I just noticed that if I check my email on the Outlook Web Portal the device also downloads new messages. How can I make it get new messages on its own without the help of Entourage or the Web Portal? Thanks.
