Hi all.

One month ago I bought an iPhone 8 Plus in my local Apple Store. It's a great phone and I'm happy with it, but I have to confess that after having tried the new iPhone X I feel bad about not having waited to buy this model.

I was wondering if there is any chance that (being out of the first 14 days after the purchase) I could return it to the Apple Store, pay the difference and get an iPhone X.

I think the chances of that happening are slim. Have you considered selling the 8 and using that money towards a X? Or perhaps you can trade it in with your carrier and then pay off the difference.

Did you buy the 8 outright, full price? If so, there is a chance they will do it. If you bought the 8 on installments or the Apple upgrade plan, then there is no way they will do it.

I bought it outright full price sim-free in one single payment.

Once there is stock in the stores, I will pop by to see what happens...

You certainly can ask the Manager if they will allow this but typically they won't being that it's way outside the window.

Sometimes as we're in the Holiday Return window they're able to "pretend" it's a Holiday return. I did that with an iPhone 7 last year to upgrade to an iPhone 7 Plus.

There’s stock of the X all over where I live. It’s not sold out for sure

I asked one of the employees and she said "no" straightforward. No way they can return it out of the 14 days. She seemed fed up answering the same to many people.

I will try another day with other employee, but it seems that I have no chance.

No chance will they return a month old iPhone. Your better off selling it on Craigslist or swappa for a small loss and then buying the X.

No chance. I did the same thing with the 8. Should have waited. I’ll just sell the 8 and suck up what I lose. Not Apple’s fault I made a mistake. I didn’t even ask them.

Don’t get crazy and keep bothering Apple employees. You knew when you bought it there was a 14 day return period. It’s not Apple’s fault you made a mistake. Why on earth should they extend your return window.
