What you have coming is what i just got last week. He's (he has a name) is sitting next to me here at work. It's beautiful. I love it.

I'm guessing there isn't an Apple store near you? I just walked into the store last week to get it. I wanted it with Tiger and the Leopard install disks for 9.99.

Nice one mate, I remember how excited I was when I was waiting for my Hi-Res MBP to arrive. Out of curiosity though, how come you "dumped" your last laptop - it has very similar specs to your new one.

Was the temptation of the High Resolution screen too much? It looks great on my laptop by the way, although when using any OTHER screen afterwards everything appears to look massive!

And how come you changed from Glossy to Matte this time? I've got the Glossy version and it looks great.

Cheers.

I heard that if u order on 26th, you can get Leopard DVD within the box, but it's untold if you are also gonna get Tiger DVD...but since I already have like 3 Tigers ... I don't really care that much... just payint this extra $10 to meet
"her" earlier

Haha, that wasn't actually "dump".. my old man needed a new laptop so I gave it to him.

For the Glossy part... it's just that I have bought a Glossy one, just feel like getting a Matte one instead :)

Speaking of Apple stores...do they typically stock all the base models? I am wanting to buy a 15" MBP when I get home from Iraq, but I want the 256MB GPU version. Is this something they would typically have in stock?

What ever you see as the base on the Apple website store is what they have in stock. Pretty much 3 Macbook Pros. (2- 15", 1- 17") When you select one from there and it lists any upgrades you would like, those are not available in the store.

Originally i was thinking of getting the 15" 2.4 and upgrade it to the 160/7200 HD. But that was not available in the store. So i just went for the 17" Hi-Res. I need the bigger screen anyway with what i do. I wanted it with Tiger in case there are problems with the software i currently own and need to be able to work with these programs without any issues. So i'm going to wait to install Leopard until the coast is clear. I thought it was the best of both worlds.

I'm going to be buying a hdd (250GB, 5400rpm) and memory (2x2GB) third party, so I don't care about those upgrades.

Would they typcally have both glossy and matte screens available?

When i was there, they had the 15" available in both glossy and matte. But the 17" only in matte. Being that it's geared for a designer, matte is more common for someone who purchases a 17". This was their excuse for not having the 17" glossy in stock. I prefer the matte for true color and don't like to see my reflection in the glossy anyway.

hahahaha
Me too!!! Curses!

Same here my friend. Kinda thought someone had the inside scoop on a real update to the Macbook Pros. I would have gotten SR but there wasn't enough of an improvement in the hardware for me, and they aren't that much faster than the previous models.

I am hoping for more BTO options.
