iPhone Excuse my ignorance, but I want to just

delete useless stock apps like "Stocks" & "Newstand".
In googling the subject I'm running across words like 'jailbreak'. I'm not totally sure what that means/entails, but all I want is my space back.

All help is appreciated. I'm technologically challenged.:eek:
 
Jailbreaking, despite the advances in tools, is not something that should be done by someone who is admittedly "technologically challenged." I understand that some of the native apps can be annoying, but they really do not take up much space and they can easily be placed in single folder and tucked away on the last page. That would be my suggestion.

Agree about the "technologically challenged" staying away from jailbreaking. But while it's true that most unneeded apps can be tucked away in a folder, the Newsstand is an exception -- it can't be placed in a folder. :(

Actually there's a timing trick which when performed correctly can place the newsstand icon inside a folder. I'm pretty sure you can do it on stock too. I don't remember the procedure but I'm sure a quick google search will yield great results. OP, let me know if you can't find it. I'll do some googling too.

There was, but it got disabled in one of the recent iOS releases. I know you couldn't do it on 5.1.1, and it sure doesn't work on 6.0.
 
They don't take that much space, just move them to the end.

If you want to jb just for that I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you are 'technologically challenged'
 
Fillippo Bigarella, the dev behind springtomize, created a tool to put Newsstand inside a folder on any device running iOS 5.x/6.x, even unjailbroken devices. It's called StifleStand. Right now it's Mac only but he said it should be available on windows too. I saw this on Twitter just now. Thought I should mention it.
