I had all my files on a external SSD in NTFS, I knew I wouldnt be able to write to the drive in mac OS but it also couldn’t read some of the files either, they were just missing. This put me off getting paragon to enable write because i found out this software dosnt replace the apple read driver.

Apple Tec support said I should format in mac OS as exFAT as that is fully supported but the file count is different there are about thousand less files than when I read the drive in windows.

I checked in Linux too and the file count matches windows exactly, I know the file sizes can be different but I thought the file count would be the same across platforms as it’s a data drive only, image and word files mainly, im concerned mac os cant see all my files again, is there a way i can verify this without having to go through every folder and check manually.

Yup. Ever since I updated to Mojave the storage amounts in Finder's status bar have been incorrect. It's off by a huge amount - like +5GB. I don't think the disk format matters.
