On my old early 08 iMac I had ExifTool. It was a free download that you could click on a photo from the web and slide it over the ExifTool icon on the dock. It gave you all the info on the camera settings etc.

It was a nice tool.

I've since upgraded my iMac and now running Mojave 10.14.3.

My question is, does anyone use this exif reader with a newer iMac?

I really miss it.

I think there are extensions you can download for Firefox. Then you can right click on the image without downloading it locally.

Nothing for Safari though.

I still use pyExifToolGui (which is a graphical version of ExifTool) to add copyright and manual lens details to my photos where needed.
However I wasn't aware you could drag web photos to it, in fact I've just tried it without success.

As Molly said above, I use the Exif extension in Firefox to get info. on web photos.

Cheers :)
