Existing AT&T customers -- keep same phone number??

I am an existing AT&T customer.

If I buy an iPhone - when I set it up, will I be given another phone number? Or will I be able to keep the same phone number?

I know my SIM card from my current phone won't work in the new iPhone - so I didn't know if my phone number would change too.

you get to keep your number. when setting up the iphone for the first time, itunes will ask if you're already an at&t customer or switching from another carrier. click the appropriate box/bubble, and you should be set within minutes. it simply transfers your account to the new phone.

You will be able to keep your number. When my daughter got one, she was able to keep her number. The set up goes just like slurpeeman said. It took like 5-10 minutes.
