Is this possible?
A friend is upgrading to 3G and is willing to sell me his 2.5G cheap. I'm currently on an AT&T Family Plan. I put my SIM into his jailbroken phone and was able to place calls properly, my biggest concern is about the data plan. I don't want to pay $20/month when I have Wifi EVERYWHERE I go.
I've read it's possible for me to simply disable EDGE and continue without a data plan, but that there's no clear definition about when your phone uses EDGE to check email and such.
I understand I'll lose GoogleMaps and Visual Voicemail, but those are really not important to me. What I'm looking for is a cheap way to upgrade my Razr to a nicer phone (and iPod) so that I don't have to carry as many gadgets around, whilst avoiding any additional monthly charges.
Is this possible? I don't currently have any fancy data plan for my Razr, if I want to browse the internet or download things it charges me based on how much data I sent. I've asked AT&T, but they'll lie about anything to keep you on the data plan so I'm not trusting them.
Thanks!
