I've looked around the forum and I can't see that this has happened to anyone else, but my macbook pro (17" not core 2 duo) expanded by about 1.5 cm.

I wouldn't be surprised if in the next couple of weeks we see a mass battery recall.

As soon as its up, I'll post the link to the YouTube video of the battery itself.

I have to say, I'm disturbed. If it had gotten much worse, I think it could have done some serious damage.

Here's the youTube video

Here's the youTube video, just so you guys can see its not photoshopped or anything (course, why I would do that, I don't know.)

It might give you a better idea of what sort of damage we're talking about too.

yeah, that happened to me too.
Call AppleCare and they'll send you a nice new battery. I got mine within 24hrs of calling!

yah, they told me 5 business days, which annoyed me. But I'm in Santa Fe, so that might be the cause.

They should next day it for me really. I paged them 2700 + 300 ( the apple care) for this thing and it broke. I use it for my businesses and it being portable is really key (mobile audio recording business.)

But atleast they aren't charging me to fix it.

They always overnight stuff like that. They tell you 5 days incase it cant get shipped same day because of stock levels, number of orders etc. underpromise, over deliver.

I just had the battery in my 15" MBP replaced after it stopped working, the first question they asked me at the reseller was "is it expanding?" which mine wasn't... yet. It wouldn't surprise if I had held onto for a few more weeks if it had happened though.
