I'm looking to buy a new 14' MBP. What is the most likely timeframe for the updated (2023) versions to be available? Are we looking at announcements at the spring event (march/april)? Or is it possible that updates will be rolled out earlier in 2023?

The only date we're sure of, is 2023 - not trying to be coy but there's been scant rumors and information coming out of Apple. If I was a betting man, I'd say March or April.

If you are in dire need of a new computer now for work/personal use, then the existing MacBook lineup will be sufficient. If your current computer is in working order and looking for an upgrade, there is no telling what Apple has planned. There are multiple rumors floating around of the new MacBooks using 3nm chips vs 4nm. The only possible info that can be declared is a release in 2023.
