Can anyone that's had to use it share some stories. My dog tripped me yesterday and the phone (8plus) fell and hit the edge of concrete stairs and the screen cracked pretty bad. The display or the phone are not affected and work fine, the glass will just need to be replaced. I've never had to use my AppleCare and was wondering what kind of timeframe am I looking at? My appointment is for Thursday at like 6pm

If it’s just the screen that needs to be replaced, they can just do it st the back and can take 1-2 hours to complete the repair and depending on how busy the technician is. Typically it will count towards one of your accidental.

The few times I have had to use AppleCare, I have had good customer service. I suggest getting their early (as in 5pm if possible). The Genius Bar may be able to fit you in early. Always be honest as honesty goes a long way in life, as well as with Apple.

Even though you may be in and out, (within a few hours of repair) prepare for the possibility of being without a phone. I suggest securing a backup before your appointment.

You'll lose the IP67 water resistance rating once the screen has been replaced.

Thats inaccurate. Apple has specific procedures they follow when preparing the iPhone and water resistant seals to ensure its completely properly. You’re implying that every iPhone that has been opened is now compromised with the water resistance and seals.

Did some digging and research and this is not true. Had I gone to a non-Apple repair place - yes.

The store I'm going to is a bit out of the way and sees less traffic so hopefully they'll wrap up quickly. If I have to leave the phone then I was just gonna rely on my watch. I have an old 5S lying around somewhere at home, but I feel like it would be a little painful to go back to that. First world problems lol
