I had a mobileme account awhile back and used that email address as one of my primary addresses but once the subscription ended I couldn't see paying another $100 for it. Shortly after that they announced this free service iCloud and it was found out that I'd be able to transition my old MobileMe account to iCloud and regain that email address.

Well since iCloud officially launched for the public I tried to do this and was met with a brick wall. When I try to log in to icloud.com it tells me I need to move over my address to iCloud by clicking on a link. It takes me back to the me.com address to log in, well that's great and all but it doesn't work. It just tells me my subscription has ended and can't be renewed and will not login.

So does anyone know how to properly switch over my MobileMe account to iCloud for expired accounts?

Am I missing something or do they maybe not have everything up and running right now?

Where have you read that expired MobileMe accounts could be migrated to iCloud?
I could be wrong, but i've never seen this quoted anywhere. Only that active MobileMe accounts could be migrated.

It was quoted a long time ago that even expired accounts would be moved over.

I just found the solution though, you have to move it over via iOS 5, you have to basically sign into your account again on your phone and it'll move it over for you.

I was actually able to log in to Mobile Me from my iPhone with IOS4. I am stuck at work and can't update until I get home. My MobileMe was canceled back on June 6th, and I haven't been able to log in. I added a MobileMe account on my phone and logged in with my existing account and it worked. Then I went to icloud.com at work and I was able to log in. Only Find My iPhone is working right now, but it should all work when I upgrade to IOS5 and 10.7.2.
