Explain it to me plz..

What´s the diference betwin a Core 2 Duo 2.4 for desktop and a Core 2 Duo at 2.4 for laptop (like the ones on the iMac).

I understand the laptop processors are designed to save energy and produce less heat.

But what´s the diference in performance? If there is one. Aren´t those 2 running at the same speed?

If they are similar in performance I don´t understand where are people complaining about laptop processors the iMac. If they are not similar, how big is the diference?

I really lack of knowlege in this area, and need some help from people who REALLY know this. Thanks.

The desktop version has a higher FSB 1066MHz giving it an edge over the mobile is all i can think of at the moment

The confusion is mostly due to the fact that there aren't a whole lot of sites out there doing comparison benchmarking between laptop and desktop processors. In this case, Intel's current lineup of cpu's all the way from the laptop parts to the server parts are based on the same centrino-derivative architecture. Clock-for-clock they're all the same, save for differences in bus speed (which are mostly insignificant).
So, a 2.4 laptop part is going to be basically the same as the 2.4 desktop part, but built to take less power to run (and be a lot more expensive).
The one caveat to remember is that dollar for dollar, you can buy a much higher-clocked desktop part, but frankly the iMac couldn't take that kind of extra heat in its current form...
