Is there anyway of exporting contacts from my iphone 3g? I want to do a complete restore of the software but don't want to lose my contacts and trying avoid writing down all the contacts to reenter them after the restore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any responses.

iTunes backups data, when you sync your iPhone with computer.

You can also sync your Contacts from iPhone to Address Book (Mac) or similar software (Windows).

If you're planning on restoring as new and don't want to restore from the backup, then you'll need to first sync your contacts to Address Book (Mac) or Outlook (Best) or Windows Address Book (Windows). You can also sync various other info off the iPhone, like Notes, Calendar, etc. Just look at the options in the Summary pane for each app you want synced.
