I'm backing up my Photo library. When I Select All, there are 15.089 photos to export. I choose Export Unmodified Photos, and I get an message that an internet connection is needed. I assume this is a normal prompt. I definitely have an internet connection.

However, when I click the progressive wheel, I see only 14.934 files are being transfer. What would explain the disparity between what I selected and what is being exported?

Do you have Optimize Photos Storage enabled in Settings?

This I cannot explain.

I have 12K+ photos stored in iCloud, with Download Originals, and I get maybe a handful that Photos says it cannot export out of the batch.

I have been having a great deal of Date Created disparity issues with HS; I’ve performed many, many library exports in recent weeks, always make a new export Folder, and monitor Finder to compare file counts, Creation Date, etc....

More testing is in order :/

Why not just back up the library file itself? Call it library 2 or something like that and then compare to make sure all the photos are in the copy?
