Expose on external Display

Hello, I have a cinema display connected to my macbook pro and would like to have expose, the top menubar and the dashboard (without moving he widgets to the other monitor) on the external monitor. I know it works if I mirror the displays. Since the macbook display is not able to show the full resolution of the cinema display this is not an option. Any advice is welcomed.

you can set the external display to be the primary display by going into System Preferences > Display > Arrangement.. and click and drag the menubar rectangle across and drop it in the bigger display (i.e. your Cinema Display).

mind you, when the display is unplugged, the widgets will always move such that they can be seen within the MBP's screen space. therefore, when you plug the cinema back in and do Dashboard - the widgets will only be occupying whatever digital pixel size (h x w) that the MBP's resolution does (ex: 1440x900 or what have you).. and will situate those dimensions starting from the top left of the screen.

Ha! That's awesome! Even after years of using macs I keep coming across nifty tips like those.


Now I feel like a dumbass for physically unplugging and switching around the displays on my desk to make the right hand one be the main monitor a few months ago.
