Hi,

Pressing the F8, F9, and F10 bring up a picture of a line with little lines radiating from it, F8 is just a line. On all three of these there is a small white circle with a line through it indicating that whatever these buttons are supposed to do, they are turned off. F7 does nothing.

Please help - What are these buttons supposed to do, why does the Expose (which the F9 and F10 keys are set to) not pop up? The F11 and F12 work fine.

Thanks in advance,

Devon

Those are the buttons that control the backlit keyboard. They work when you use the laptop in a dark room. You can activate Exposé by holding down fn while pressing F9 or F10 as mad jew suggested.

If you want to change that behaviour you can do so in System Preferences. You can either reverse the effect of holding down fn for the F1-F10 keys or you can set other short-cuts for Exposé if you like.
