A FW800 ExpressCard/34 adapter would be useful even to owners of later MBPs if they really wanted maximum speed. That way you'd have two separate FW channels rather than just one. You're not aware of the FirmTek SeriTek 2Sm2-E ExpressCard/34 eSATA adapter, are ya?It doesn't sound like any of the FW or eSata cards that are out work at all, and it's an expensive way to add a Flash card reader to your laptop.

It's been around for at least a few months.
It has real Mac OS X support.
