Hello!
I have two partitons both named Macintosh HD and 15gb free space

#1 Macintosh HD 69,63gb (6gb free) Sierra installed, HFS+
#2 Macintosh HD 415gb (15gb free) Mavericks installed, HFS+
#3 "free storage" 15gb

Now I want to join #1 and my free storage #3. Somehow diskutil does not let me extend the base partition, I can only join #2+#3, not #1+#3 in diskutility. Is there any trick how to extend the Sierra Apple_CoreStorage partition?

diskutil list:
/dev/disk0 (internal, physical):
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: GUID_partition_scheme *500.3 GB disk0
1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 415.0 GB disk0s2
3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s3
4: Apple_CoreStorage Macintosh HD 69.3 GB disk0s4
5: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s5

/dev/disk1 (internal, virtual):
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD +69.0 GB disk1

Sometimes the only way to do this is to:
1. Create a BOOTABLE CLONED BACKUP of your primary [boot] partition on an external drive.
1a. Backup anything else on the other partitions as well.
2. Boot from the cloned backup drive
3. Open Disk Utility and ERASE the internal drive (i.e., "nuke it back to zero")
4. Either re-create your partitions, or just use the one partition
5. RE-clone the external backup BACK TO the internal drive.

Yes, this "involves some work", but it WILL "do the job" when nothing else does.

You can only give a partition that is "below" to the partition above. Fishrrman's solution is the only way to give more space to #1 Sierra.
