Hi guys,

I have some ridiculous idea to extend my MacBook Pro 15 (late 2016) with external SSD storage in order to install on it modern games, which as you may know, requires around ~50G for each...

So, if you have similar experience, please tell me worth it or not? what about performance?

Thanks!

Sure... that will work fine. Just stick the SSD in a USB3 enclosure and it will be very fast. You should see about 400MBps.

Go for it. I have the 2015 MacBook Pro with only 128GB, and most of my files are either on the SanDisk USB 3.0 Flash Drive that I always have plugged in, or an external hard drive. Both perform pretty well.
