Extension that works in iphone safari?

I've got a website, and on that website is a link to a video, and I want to be able to play that video on itouch/iphones safari web browser. It works on a computer but when you click it in the mobile safari browser, it just says you can't download this file. What video extension will work and allow it open in the browser?
