In 2020, one of my Covid projects was to rip all our DVD and Blu-Ray movies onto a Plex server. Once completed I haven't connected my external Blu-Ray drive since.

Yesterday, I went to connect the drive to my MBP running MacOS 12.6.5 and the drive will no longer mount. It powers up but the disc keeps ejecting after a couple of minutes.

I've tried quitting all applications and restarting with nothing but the drive connected to the MBP. I've tried other original Blu-ray discs. I'm using the latest (registered) version of MakeMKV ver.1.17.3. Nothing seems to work.

This is the drive. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...a05917362b202&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

Any suggestions on what the issue may be or what to try next?

Do you have a different Mac (or even a PC) to which you can connect the drive?
Just to see if it functions on a different computer?

Something else to try:
Connect the drive, but do not put any disc into it.
Now, you want to go to the utilities folder and bring up "system information" (at least that's what it was called in Mojave, which I'm using -- not sure what Monterey calls it).

I would then look to see if the drive is on the USB bus.
Also, there may be an option for "disc burning" under "hardware" -- does anything show there?

I meant to try it on my wife's MBP last night but forgot. I'll try that today. Here's the message I get after running a system report.

Do you have an audio CD you could try in the drive?
Just to see if it mounts on the desktop?

Or perhaps a DVD?
