usb 2 could be a problem

Hi. The usb 2 on your mac mini probably will be a problem because it is not as fast as usb 3 and because the usb channel is managed by the cpu. Your mac mini might not have the speed to manage the data transfer and do other things for you on the desktop at the same time. Other connections like firewire or thunderbolt have embedded micro controllers. The cpu tells the channel what to copy, and the embedded controller just does it with no load on the cpu.
