Hello

I have a Mac Pro tower (circa 2007) and using an external display (NEC). Since upgrading to Lion I am having display issues:

1. Upon turning machine on, monitor doesn't display an image. I need to force power off machine & turn back on. Sometimes, that triggers the image.

2. Sometimes after machine has been asleep, I go to wake it and the computer wakes, but no signal displays on monitor. I have for force power off the machine & turn back on.

I'm read of others here and there having similar issues. Anyone here experience this or have possible solution? The monitor should be fine... it's something related to Lion upgrade. Thanks

I'd do general troubleshooting first;

Reset PRAM
(Hold CMD + ALT + P + R at boot, wait for it to 'bong' several times, and release)

Reset SMC
(Power down, take out power cable for 10 seconds, re-attach)

Fix disk permissions in Disk Utility

Run FSCK
(Hold CMD + S at boot, wait for root: prompt, and type 'fsck -fy', repeat this until it says your boot partition is ok)

See if that helps

Thank you. I am giving these a shot to see if it resolves the problem. I still have the ATI Radeon 1900 XT in my Mac pro 1,1. I'm also starting to see more artifact issue in images.

Wondering if it is time to upgrade my video card. I hear the 5770 (? ) might be a good upgrade. Might help my machine to run quieter, too.
