I have an Archgon/Panasonic external dvd drive I’ve been using with my Mini.
I received my new 2019 Imac yesterday. The Imac sees the title of dvds but won’t play them.
It can download cds into Itunes but won’t play them from the drive.
Do I need separate software or drivers?
I’m flummoxed.
Thanks

No. No error messages. Just, the buttons on the app don’t function once the app opens up after insertion of dvd. Just black where the dvd image should be.
I’ll try that.

Works fine now. Followed another thread that said to go to disk utility and then insert blank disk. Drive then shows up in list on the left. Re-inserted dvd with content and all now works as it should. Weird. Kept me from pulling the trigger on a superdrive purchase.

Now I need to figure out why it doesn't yet see my new LaCie drive, also from the Apple store.

LaCie drive now recognized. Which APFS encoding is best for formatting?
