Using monterey 12.5.1 and external drive 2To

two questions

the external drive 2to is partitioned into 1to (mac os) and 1to exfat.

I decided to used reformat the one in exfat in mac os. I did succesfully. I can mount the new formated disk on my mac no problem. I can see it.
BUT
When I opened timemachine. I used selected a disk and I don t see the new formatated disk. I only see the others. I see the one who was already partitioned mac os, and another one SSD apfs. ANY CLUE WHY?

My first 1to mac os formated is my backup for my internal SSD. but I would like to used the second part 1to separatly and back up another external SSD. How can I do it with timemachine?

thanks for your help

I'm having a hard time understanding. Are you aware that APFS is more or less the default macOS file system now? Could you supply a screenshot of Disk Utility showing the partitioning of the external drive, and a screenshot of where Time Machine is not giving you the choices you expect?

the external disk is split into 2 part of 1to
- backup01: no problem with that one. visible on my mac and time machine. it is were I used to back up my internal file with timemachine. it was mac os (not apfs) reformated before used.
-backup02 thunder: visible on my mac but NOT on timemachine. it used to be exfat, but I reformated that part into mac os.

the external disk I want to back up is called thunder. visible on my mac and timemachine. (apfs formated)
