External Drives Disappear?

macOS Catalina 10.15
MacBook Pro Mid 2014

I am have an issue with my external drives disappearing after a minute or so once the systems as started.

I can see them in the desktop and finder, then they just disappear, does anyone have the same issue and know how to resolve it?

Does this happen with EVERY external drive you connect?
