I have a Samsung SSD pulled from a 2017 MacBook Air. It's listed on Memory4Less as:
MZ-JPV512R/0A2 Samsung 512GB MLC PCI Express 3.0 x4 M.2 2280 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) for MacBook (Selected Models)
A detailed discussion with someone at OWC concluded that neither their Envoy Pro or Envoy Express enclosures would be compatible.
Can anyone suggest other enclosures for this drive? Would really like Thunderbolt 3, but whatever works.

I have an OWC Envoy Pro, and I have a 2017 MBAir. The SSD out of that 2017 MBAir works great in the Envoy Pro.
It's OWC's part number OWCMAU3ENPRPCI0 --- I'm looking at one, with an SSD out of a 2017 MBPro, mounted on the desktop on my Mac.
It's not a cheap item, and I reconcile the expense, as I use it in my little service shop.
(You could just order the part - or if you call OWC again, you might want to ask to speak to someone who knows their product line. YES, the 2017 MBAir is NOT mentioned in the compatibility page for that enclosure, however, it only takes a bit of looking to find out that the 2015 and 2017 MBAir are essentially identical.
And, finally, the SSD out of a 2017 MBAir does, in fact, work just fine in the Envoy Pro.

Are you sure that the SSD that you pulled (or, at least, are quoting here) is the original SSD? The SSD you list wouldn't be compatible with the OWC Envoy branded enclosures, but it's also not the SSD that would've been inside that Mac to begin with.

I will disagree with Yebubbleman's post.
OWC does not show that SSD as being incompatible with the Envoy Pro enclosure - just ignores the 2017 MacBook Air.
Despite that listing in OWC's site about compatibility, the OWC Envoy Pro enclosure works with that Samsung SSD. Mine is, also, out of a 2017 - happens to be a 128GB, but same part number series as the 512GB capacity. (It is a MZ-JPV128S-0A4, and is an SSUBX type, if that is related.
Both the 2015 and 2017 MBAir have the same MacBookAir7,2 model ID - so just an oversight on OWC's part, I'm guessing...

No, I'm not sure this Samsung is the original SSD, because the Air was bought as refurbished by a third party. But it appears that labeled Samsungs were *maybe* installed in Airs - see the thorough discussion at

Even, or especially, after reading that, I'm not sure what I have! I am beginning to think it's not worth the effort and $ to enclose it though. Easier and probably cheaper to buy a 500GB Samsung T5 or T7 or equivalent.

FYI, here's a picture of my SSD:

hey OP! Did you end up finding an enclosure? I have the same SSD, have bought two enclosures listed as compatible only to discover they are not (UGH)
