External Enclosures REAL list

I ordered the My Book 500gb Pro from Dell Home for $230, but it is backordered, and is showing a ship date of 11/14/06. I'd rather not wait that long. so I have two questions:

1) does anyone know where the drive can be had for the same price?

2) what external enclosures are recommended? These things can be finicky, so I'd like to find one that has a really really good reputation. SATA would be preferred, and I'd like FW800, though its not essential.

I know there have been other ext. encl. threads, but they've been strewn across a BUNCH of accessory topics, so lets consolidate them here.

While they are more expensive, a guy at work bought one of these (a 500GB quad-connection one) and loves it. He had it in the other day, and it looks to be very well made.

Note that you can also buy just the case and stock it with your own drive of choice.
