I have an external firewire drive formatted in FAT32 that I have all of my iTunes music on and XP will just hang when starting up or shutting down with it connected. It will however startup and shut down fine if I don't turn the drive on until XP has finished starting up or shutting down.

I have read user reviews on this drive and no one seems to be having this problem under XP so I was convinced that it' was an issue with Bootcamp, but cannot find anyone having a similar problem.

Ideas?

P.S. It runs without a hitch when hooked up via USB.

Fairly impossible to comment without knowing which drive and which FW enclosure. Have you tried looking if the maker of the enclosure or of the FW bridge board in the enclosure has an update to their firmware?

Otherwise, we're all just taking shots in the dark here

It's an iRocks enclosure and I have already checked for firmware updates for it which there is none. The drive I'm using is a Maxtor 6L200P0 200GB.
