External GPU with Final Cut Pro?!?

When I use plugins and do tracking in Final Cut Pro it usually is very laggy. Maybe thermal throttling?!?

wondering if I should get an external GPU. Also want to dive into 3D software editing so would it help?

My specs:

MacBook Pro 15 inch, 2018
2.9 GHz 6-core intel core i9
32 fb 2400 MHz DDR4
Radeon pro 560X 4 GB
Intel UHG graphics 630 1536 MB

Not all plug-ins use GPU accelleration. Best to check with supplier before investing in an eGPU. I run an eGPU, and it is great - but not everything gets accellerated.

No idea. Not using any of adobe’s video editing packages. Too painful to use.
