Hi guys,

I don't know if this thread belongs to here but I really need help and this looks like a good place to post this.... well I'm on an Imac..

So Like I said I'm using an Imac myself and tonight while I was plugging something on my power bar, I accedently shut the whole power bar down, causing my Imac to turn off right away as well as my external hard drive.

Now when I rebooted my computer, I click on my hard drive and all my data is lost.....

It's still says that 500 gig of 2 tb is taken on it... witch is good but I cant see anything the window is white....

My whole life is on this hard drive and I was in the process to make back up but this whole thing happened right before I could do the master back up because I was gathering all my files...

HELP please anyone would know how to restore this.....

Thanks a lot in advance and hopefully what was mine will return!

Cheers

You may try Disk Drill, Data Rescue or File Salvage to scan the external HDD for files, and if they find anything, you have to pay for whatever application you chose, to recover the data.
Make sure to not write any new data onto the external HDD, even when recovering data on it.

The data is not lost for now though, it is just invisible.

thanks for your fast response I'm doing the deep scan right now but It says it's going to take about 18 hours...

So I'll get back to you!

If anyone has other idea? do not hesitate!

Thanks again

18 hours is normal, especially if it is a big drive.
It once took me a week to complete a scan of a 250GB HDD, and it worked in the end.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

So I check in this morning and it look like it was done half way..... But only a few 100 Meg were found so far....

Is that normal...

Also the file names aren't right.....

So it looks like it didn't work....

it only found a few files.... and they weren't full size and aout of 500 gig only 300 meg was found.

anyone as an Idea?

thanks guys
