I have a Seagate portable hard drive that I am using with my 24” imac. The drive randomly disconnects and re-connects. I have other desktop drives that have not been affected. The drive functions just fine when connected to a 2013 Macbook Pro. Both machines are running Monterey. Anyone have similar issues or any idea what is going on?

Is it sleeping? I had a Seagate drive that would sleep at seemingly random times, and I couldn't turn that feature off. I ended up tossing it, and got a Western Digital and WAS able to turn sleep off.
