Hello everyone,

Ok so i buy an external 4 bay harddrive casing. I have an empty 1TB in the first slot, and put my full 500GB in the second slot. The 500gb doesnt show up in my mac, so i take it out and put it back into its old casing. But now everything is gone, it isnt even "formatted" for mac!!! i had 465GB of data!!! it was full!!!

I have got a screen shot here, of what it says. is there any software out there that will look at the drive and find out if my files are still there?? It is very very important.

i'd have thought almost certainly all of your files are still there - if your disc was only in the enclosure for a short time - it'll have formatted the disc somehow and the structure but not the files have been overwritten.

you'll just need to use some recovery s/w to get them back.

i cant recommend any as i've never had to use any in anger - but others here will surely have experience.

i'd canvas lot's of opinions including google for other sites, then pick the 'best' and do your recovery once.
