I'm having a problem with my external harddrive.

Whenever my macbook goes to sleep it will disconnect my external harddrive and when I wake my computer back up I get the "Device Removed" error message. I was wondering if there is a why to keep my external harddrive from doing this when the computer goes to sleep.

Thanks

Sounds like your MB/P is disconnecting the hard drive before it goes to sleep. I've never suffered this problem - but might be worthwhile manually unmounting your hard drive when you aren't using it.

If your ex. hard drive is in standby mode (i.e. not spinning) when the computer goes to sleep then you can just ignore the error message as it won't affect the ex. hard drive.

Would be an issue if the hard drive woke up when the computer went to sleep.
