I can't get a external HD to work in my powermac G5? I also need this to work in an older IMac, will there be any formatting problems? I know very little about Macs. I'm an IT guy at a college but we only have Windows except for the 2 macs we use for video editing. And up until I have never had to work on them :)

any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

Does the external drive need to access the windows too or only the macs??

preferably both. but i would be very happy with just the two macs. someone said to format it in FAT32, but the only option it gives me is NTFS?

Format the drive on a Mac and use Disk Utility >> select the external Hdd>>erase >>select file format (MS-DOS) for windows/Mac compatible >> name the drive>>uncheck the OS9 drivers box (if only your using OSX/xp etc) >>erase disk

once you hit erase disk button it'll take 2mins to erase/format then the drive should show onto the desktop :D :D
