Umm... without knowing what Mac, what OS, what external hard drive and how it's connected or what specifically the trouble is? No, nobody can help you.

You need to provide all the details you can if you expect to get help.

USUALLY there are no drivers required for a modern Mac to access an external USB or Firewire hard drive.

here's my details...im using iBook G4-OSX . im trying to read a maxtor ext hard disk through USB connection.my fren who has the same model as mine can read it fine..i cant figure out the problem

Does it show up in the Disk Util app? (/Applications/Utilities)
