Need a new external TM drive for 5.1mp.

Will a USB-C drive work connected to a USB-A (USB 2) port on mac.....?

From this section I am not too sure....
  • Make sure that the USB port on your Mac and the USB cable used by your device both meet or exceed the USB specification of the device itself.
This suggests the mac usb should be the same or better than the external disk.
