I have a new I-Pad and would like to use an external keyboard. I have tried in "settings" to activate the external keyboard but it still uses the built in one. How do I go about activating the external keyboard?

Are you asking about a Bluetooth keyboard? If so, make sure you turn on BT in Settings/General. Then pair with iPad.

If you have the USB adapter most USB keyboards will work. You might get a message once connected that this device is not supported, but my external USB KB works fine.

I have a cheap (under $10), flexible USB keyboard that is easy to travel with, and works great!

Not sure if this is the same one I have, but it's very similar.
