Is there a way to run your MBA M1 connected to an external Monitor in lid closed mode WITHOUT having it plugged in to power? I find this not quite logical, why you can use an external Monitor without Powercable in a open working modus (so technically it needs more energy to screen 2 monitors) but you have to plug in power when MBA monitor is closed.

Actually it is logical because of the power requirements. Operating in Clam Shell Mode has always required the host machine (your MBA) to be on AC power.

Nothing new about that.

What is logical there? So just because it was "always like that" its logical that one monitor drains more energy than 2? I am missing something there?

If you want to use the terminal command line it is pretty easy: sudo pmset -b disablesleep 1. Set the 1 back to 0 to resume normal sleep. I think you can also use the app Amphetamine to do the same thing but I haven't used it.

Great, and thanks a lot! I guess, when not needed it should be reversed always, since it could do harm if the Mac never goes to sleep otherwise?!
