external monitor on macbook

I'm thinking about getting dells 27 inch monitor for my black macbook. The dell monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200. I know technically the macbooks graphics card is supposed to support it but i've heard rumors that it tends to over-heat and shut down either right away or after some time. Does anyone have an external monitor running with this high of resolution? If so what are your thoughts on it?

I haven't heard of that issue but I know for a fact the Apple Cinema Display 23" HD works fine with it - and the 27" Dell you mentioned has the same resolution...
