Hi guys, I can get a 19inch tft to hook up to my macbook for free off a friend, the only doubt i have is the fact that its not a widescreen monitor just a standard (4:3 - i think) square monitor. How will this affect the macbook resolution if im using them both, and how will my resolution change when using it in clamshell mode (with the macbook closed)

by default you get two desktop, each at its own resolution.. you can set it to mirror your main desktop aswell, but then one of the screens will be not at its best resolution..

also: if you close the lid the computer goes to sleep.

I use my macbook with a 4-3 external lcd monitor and it works great. Since I have an external keyboard and mouse, I can use it with the laptop closed.

As stated, if you use it as a second monitor, it will be set to whatever resolution it is supposed to be.

And to correct a previous poster, with clamshell mode you MB won't sleep. But anyway, with clamshell the 19" will remain its native res.
