Hi,

I am looking for an external monitor for use with a Mac mini (20219) and MacBook Pro (2020).
I currently have a dell ultra sharp 25" UHD which I like. But I am looking for more real estate (for programming, VMWare) and an easy way to switch between my personal and work computer.

Requirements:
  • 4K
  • IPS panel (that's the best available quality I think and I am using it all day long with ageing eyes.)
  • 27" to 32" -> 27" seems too small for a 4K screen and 32" seems a very big step?
  • usb-c (video, data, charging the MacBook Pro)
  • kvm switch
  • picture by picture or picture in picture is nice to have
  • sub 1000 euro / 1200 USD
  • 5 ms or faster refresh
  • Sound included or at least an accessory (like the dell)
  • Height/tilt is nice to have (that can be solved with a vesa mount).
  • factory color calibration
  • blue-light filter / auto-adjust to ambient light
  • ...whatever reduces eye strain
Problem I am having is finding a Mac compatible screen that just works out of the box.
A 32" inch screen with usb-c is rare it seems and most of those that do exist have user reviews complaining about Mac compatibility issues.
I also didn't came across any monitor's with dual usb-c input. So the mini will have to use HDMI and usb3?
I am also not sure if I should get a 27" and use the 25" as a second display or get rid of it to help pay for a 32".

I look forward to your recommendations.

Edited to add 4K.

The Dell UltraSharp U3219Q is probably going to get as close to your requirements as anything (I don't think there are a ton of other 4K displays with KVM).

I found that a TCL 43" 4K HDR Roku TV (Walmart) works great and cost me under $200 last December. I drive that and a HP 2K monitor from my 2018 Intel I7 Mini.

Thanks. This one does fit most requirements. Unfortunately it is not available for sale at the moment. maybe a new model is coming.

@MrFusion - not sure where you are located but the Dell U3219Q monitor is available in Canada for CAD $1,550 and is in stock for delivery.

Not here on the local dell website. 90 days lead time said the sales rep.

LG have always been good for me. One thing you might have to do, regardless of brand, is configure custom resolutions to get hiDPI working.

Took me ages to get mine working properly.
