I upgraded to Catalina today and my external monitor is now unresponsive. Some searching around here seems to indicate that people are having similar issues with HDMI. Has anyone using DVI found any workarounds or are we just stuck waiting for Apple to get around to fixing the issue? Unfortunately, I don't have any other adapters or cables at my disposal.

I'm getting an intermittent vertical line on an external display that I'm connecting to HDMI via a DVI adapter. Unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in usually works, but it's frustrating.

Unplugging and replugging external displays seems to be the answer on almost all of the issues with external monitors. I'd say get used to the manual intervention as I've been having issues with external monitors since 10.14.6 sup updates and had spent time with apple engineers isolating issues. Unfortunately the fix for Mojve was to goto catalina which introduced more issues than it solved. So I'd guess another 6-12 months before apple get around to external monitors working again. I hope I am wrong but i've spent way too much time being a beta tester for releases now, so much so that when they hit a version that works I'm no longer upgrading. The releases are too inconsistent to use apple in a business environment where one day your external monitors work and the next they don't.
