external monitor with M1 and color range

Hi!

I've been looking for external monitors to hook up to my m1 air, and I had a question about the color, which I'm not quite sure about.

First of all, what is the color range for the display installed in the macbooks? I know its DCI P3, but what does that translate into? (→i.e. monitor specs sometimes show 16.7 million colors / 1.07 billion colors.

Secondly, can the M1 output 10.7 billion colors? I have connected my macbook to a dell monitor with (which I suspect) 16.7 million colors, and it appeared yellow overall, so I don't want that to happen.

I've been trying to do some research about the color range, but so far haven't been understanding it. Greatly appreciate your help!

Yes, it can output 1.07 billion colors to an external display.

Apple Silicon M1 supports "billion of colors" aka HDR 10-bit output
